Wedding season is already upon us!
Finding a caterer for your wedding is just one of the tasks that need to be arranged, and it is a major one. Next to the bride the meal is one of the most important elements of the day.
It’s one of the first questions we’re all asked after attending a wedding: How was the food?
The dining arrangements at your wedding constitute one of the biggest decisions you can make. Food helps set the tone of the wedding, and menu variety, quality, and presentation all contribute to the culinary experience.
Ideally, you want the best, but the “best” is what is considered best for you and your personal needs. So decide beforehand what your expectations are in a caterer and then follow these tips when you choose a caterer for your wedding reception.
Ask What They Do Best: Every caterer has its specialty. Find out what the chef thinks is terrific on his menu and decide how well that fits with your own preferences.
Consult Friends: No one knows better than the customer whether a caterer does a good job, so ask friends who have similar tastes to you if they have any firsthand recommendations — or horror stories.
Ask for testimonials: A satisfied bride and groom will usually send their caterer and other suppliers a note of thanks after the big day. Ask your potential caterer whether you can see these testimonials – it’s always good to know that others in your situation were happy with the service they received.
Tasting time: Before you choose a menu to serve to your guests, taste it first. Ask your caterer whether you can have a tasting, so that you can check the quality of the food and also choose your favourite menu. This is also a good opportunity to choose wine you feel best suits your menu.
Book Early: The best caterers are in the greatest demand, so book as far in advance as possible to ensure that you get your top choice.
